Fredrik Mörk

That's a picture of me, taken by my girlfriend.
I was born in the early 70's in Vnersborg, a small town in the west of Sweden. When I was younger than I can remember today I got interested in bird watching. The town where I grew up happened to have one of the better spots in Sweden for watching the autumn migration of birds quite centrally, so during a few years in my early teens, it was quite common that I went up extra early in the mornings and did some bird watching before going to school (which at least then was a safe way to be considered completely crazy among people of the same age). During high school I also detected the fun of making music, and was briefly involved in a sort of synth-pop band together with a couple of friends.
At the age of 16 I moved with my mother to the south of Sweden where I finished college (studying economics), and then slipped into the computer business.
When I am not working, or spending time with my family, I do some bird watching (these days on a very occasional basis), some photography, and I recently started making music again.
Professional
I am an autodidact programmer. I started out in 1993 by learning Visual Basic (VB3 had just been released). I got hooked, and started working as a consultant in the following year. I have been working professionally with all versions of Visual Basic since then, as well as doing some programming in Borland's Delphi in the mid 90's. As a matter of fact; I started out a lot earlier; for some reason my mother put me into a BASIC programming class when I was a kid, starting on some early Apple computer (probably the Apple II), later moving to the VIC-20, but I did not quite "get it" then. Too busy with the birds perhaps... Anyway, I guess it still helped since it did help demystify computers for me, so I was not afraid of using one later. Since Microsoft released .Net Framework I have also been working with C#, which is currently my language of choice.
I have been working in a range of projects, mainly with large companies as clients. Recently I have been working with providing specialized user interaction with test tools for testing mobile phones, as well as a web based system for importing defect reports into a defect management system. Before that I worked with a proprietary service based communications framework and tools for maintaining language translations in application user interfaces. I have taken part in writing user interface design guidelines for one of Sweden's largest companies.
I take a special interest in design from various points of view, be it API design, system design or user interface design.
From the summer of 1998 to the summer of 1999 I lived in France (close to Poitiers), working with development of a book-keeping system for small companies. I co-founded and worked in a small consultancy business, called Eqinox, specializing in .NET programming. Since the summer of 2008 I am self-employed working as a consultant, still specializing in .NET programming.
If you are interested in hiring me for an assignment, don't hesitate to contact me.
Photography
As you may have noticed, I am very interested in photography. That started as a spin-off from the bird watching. I bought my first SLR camera when I was around 16 years old (a Nikon F-501 equipped with a manual focus Tokina 400/5.6), in order to get pictures of birds. I was not overly successful I would say, but it was still fun. The interest went up and down over the years, but has always been around, and since a few years I am rather ambitious about it. Today birds are not the primary target for me, even though I do some bird photography at occations.
